The Tale of the Haunted Trail

Something has been sleeping in the woods of Fort Tuthill.  Some call it Sasquatch, or Bigfoot, some even name him the yeti, but in Arizona he’s known as the monster…The Mogollon Monster.  For decades, the monster has lain dormant, taking a rest from wandering the sprawling ponderosa pine forests of Northern Arizona.  There have been reports for nigh on a century of sightings of this legendary beast.  A glimpse of a tall figure in the woods, an immense footprint in the mud after a summer monsoon, or the course hairs found on pine tree branches; all leading to speculation of something supernatural roaming the vast expanse of the Northern Arizona wilderness.

After roaming these forests for centuries, the monster settled in the serene woodland of Fort Tuthill County Park for a well-deserved slumber.  For decades he slept, until the heavy monsoon rains came this year and roused him from his deep slumber.  The forest he fell asleep in, though, was not the forest he awoke to.  Halloween time is approaching in Flagstaff, the time of year that all things evil and nefarious invade the forests of Fort Tuthill.  His home was no longer quiet and serene; instead, the monster heard the workings of spirits and ghouls turning the peaceful forest into a factory of frights and fear.

The Mogollon Monster has stayed in his wooded retreat, trying his best to ward off the wicked creatures and keep them from his home.  He protects the paths that criss-cross through the woods and holds the creatures and spirits at bay.  Despite his toil, the Monster can sense a greater evil coming his way.  He can hear the unfamiliar sound of a chainsaw deep in the darkest parts of the forest…

So will you venture into the woods on October 28th?  Will you tread the paths and dare to see what evil has invaded Fort Tuthill?  The Mogollon Monster will be there, protecting his home and those who walk the paths.  So the question remains, do you dare to walk in the woods?  Or will you run for your life!
